Before you start:
1. Read the instructions carefully.
2. Work over a sink or a surface covered in layers of newspaper (just in case).
3. Only re-fill a cartridge that has just run out ~ this kit will not work with old dried out
cartridges. Even 30 minutes can ruin a cartridge if it dries out!
4. Have your printer manual handy for instructions on inserting a “new” cartridge.
BLACK, CYAN, MAGENTA, YELLOW
1. Turn the cartridge upside down and using an old ballpoint pen, push in the ball bearing that
seals the filling hole.
2. IMPORTANT – Some cartridges have a filling hole on the top surface under the label. In
the newest cartridges there is no filling hole, if this is the case you will need to make one in
the position shown right.
3. SLOWLY inject ink into the filling hole until the chamber is almost full. Unused ink may be
returned to bottle.
4. Seal the hole with the plug provided. If the plug seal is not airtight then secure and seal
plug with strong adhesive tape. THIS SEAL MUST BE AIRTIGHT, IF NOT CARTRIDGE WILL LEAK.
5. Clean the syringe with water and dry for future use, or use with different colour ink.
IMPORTANT:
For best results, cartridge should be refilled whilst some ink remains
Empty cartridges should be refilled immediately.
This work is best done over the sink.
BLACK, CYAN, MAGENTA, YELLOW
1. Hold cartridge with the filling hole upwards, insert the tip of the steel filling tube ONLY
through the rubber seal and inject up to 40ml of ink.
IMPORTANT – Insertion too far may puncture the internal bladder of the cartridge.
2. Air bubbles must NOT be injected into the cartridge as they may cause irregular printing. If
air is introduced it should be withdrawn by careful sucking with the syringe.
3. Leave cartridge to stand overnight on a protective, non-absorbent surface.
IMPORTANT:
For best results, cartridge should be refilled whilst some ink remains
Empty cartridges should be refilled immediately.
This work is best done over the sink.
1. Using the screw provided, remove the plug(s) from the filler hole(s). Twist the screw into
the plugs and pull out or increase the size of the vent holes to fit the filling needle.
2. Insert the steel filling tube through the appropriate filling hole, (see diagram above) and
push into the cartridge. Continue pushing the steel filling tube until it reaches the other side
of the cartridge.
IMPORTANT – The cartridge contains a sponge and slight resistance may be felt.
3. SLOWLY inject approximately 20ml of ink (BC-01, BC-02, BX-02) or 7ml (BC-05) or until ink appears
at the filling hole.
4. If or when ink overflows from filling hole or starts to leak from outlet hole, the cartridge
is full. Stop injecting ink immediately
4. DO NOT reseal the filler holes.
5. Leave cartridge to stand overnight on a protective non-absorbent surface.
IMPORTANT:
For best results, cartridge should be refilled whilst some ink remains
Empty cartridges should be refilled immediately.
This work is best done over the sink.
1. Make a 3mm hole using the drill bit supplied with the kit, make this about 10mm away from the
edge. DO NOT TAMPER WITH THE SEALED FILLING HOLE.
2. Insert the black syringe into the newly made filling hole and SLOWLY inject about 20ml of ink.
When ink overflows from filling hole, cartridge is full. Stop injecting immediately.
3. Seal the hole with the plug provided or strong tape. If the plug seal is not airtight then secure
and seal plug with adhesive tape together.
THIS SEAL MUST BE AIRTIGHT, IF NOT CARTRIDGE WILL LEAK.
4. Leave cartridge to stand on a protective, non-absorbent surface overnight to ensure no leakage.
5. Install cartridge in printer and run a priming cycle as per printer instructions.
IMPORTANT – For best results, cartridge should be refilled whilst some ink remains.
Empty cartridges should be refilled immediately.
This work is best done over the sink.
1. Carefully remove the top of the BC-21/24 cartridges using a penknife or Stanley knife (the
top is the smaller section positioned on top of the cartridge)
2. Enlarge the filling hole(s) in the top of the cartridge sufficiently to accept the steel filling
tube using the screw provided.
3. Insert the steel filling tube into the appropriate filling hole and push into the centre of
the cartridge.
IMPORTANT – The cartridge contains a sponge and slight resistance may be felt.
4. SLOWLY inject ink into cartridge. When ink overflows from filling hole or starts to leak from
outlet hole, cartridge is full. DO NOT seal filling holes.
5. Replace the top and secure with adhesive tape (BCJ-21)
6. Unused ink may be returned to the bottle. Leave cartridge to stand overnight on a protective,
nonabsorbent surface.
IMPORTANT – For best results, cartridge should be refilled whilst some ink remains.
Empty cartridges should be refilled immediately.
This work is best done over the sink.
1. Carefully remove the plug on top of the cartridge using they eyelet screw provided. Keep it
to re-seal the cartridge after filling.
2. Attach the needle to the syringe and fill with black ink.
3. Insert the syringe into the filling hole and push all the way into the cartridge. Note: The
cartridge contains a sponge and slight resistance may be felt.
4. SLOWLY inject up to 30ml of ink into cartridge. When ink overflows from filling hole or starts
to leak from outlet hole, cartridge is full. Replace the plug removed at the start.
5. Replace the cartridge and run a priming cycle as per the manufacturers instructions. You may
need to leave the cartridge to stand overnight to allow the ink to fully soak into the sponge.
IMPORTANT – For
best results, cartridge should be refilled whilst some ink remains.
Empty cartridges should be refilled immediately.
This work is best done over the sink.
You can either follow these instructions or the BCI-11K below.
1. Peel back the sticky label to reveal the filling hole (see diagram). Enlarge the hole sufficiently
to accept the steel filling tube using the screw provided.
2. Assemble the syringe and filling tube.
3. Insert the syringe through the filling hole and push into the centre of the cartridge.
4. SLOWLY inject the ink. When ink overflows from filling hole or starts to leak from outlet hole,
cartridge is full. Stop injecting ink immediately.
5. Leave cartridge to stand overnight to prevent leakage.
6. Install cartridge and run a priming cycle as per printer instructions.
IMPORTANT – For
best results, cartridge should be refilled whilst some ink remains.
Empty cartridges should be refilled immediately.
This work is best done over the sink.
1. Put the cartridges on some paper towels in an area where you can tolerate a spill.
2. Turn the cartridge up side down so that the outlet port of the cartridge is facing upward.
3. For Black - Fill the syringe with 3ml of black ink.
For Colour - Fill a syringe with 2ml of cyan ink, another syringe with 2ml of magenta ink and a
third syringe with 2ml of yellow ink.
4. Drip ink onto the felt pad in the outlet port. The felt pad will quickly absorb the ink into
the cartridge. If the felt pad will not soak up any more ink and the ink just sits on top then
that chamber is full. Dab a paper towel onto the felt pad to soak up any ink that did not get absorbed
into the cartridge.
It is vital that you put the correct colour into the correct chamber. Don't drip yellow ink onto
the cyan felt pad and wonder why you are now getting green.
Note: Do not pierce the felt pad with the needle of the syringe.
5. Replace the cartridge and run 1 - 3 cleaning cycles as per printer instructions.
If necessary leave cartridge in printer for up to 4 hours to allow the ink to saturate the entire
sponge.
IMPORTANT – For best results, cartridge should be refilled whilst some ink remains.
Empty cartridges should be refilled immediately.
This work is best done over the sink.
1. With the drill
bit supplied, make a 3mm filling hole above the ink reservoir. (See diagram right) IMPORTANT – DO
NOT DRILL INTO THE SECTION CONTAINING THE SPONGE.
2. Assemble the syringe and steel filling tube and fill with appropriate colour ink.
3. SLOWLY inject ink into the filling hole until the reservoir is almost full. DO NOT inject any
further ink for the time being.
4. Keep a rubber plug and some adhesive tape close by and refill the syringe up to the 10ml level
shown on the syringe.
5. Place the cartridge over a protected surface
6. Inject the 10ml of ink into the reservoir until it is completely full. Some leaking from the
outlet hole may occur at this stage.
7. Quickly seal the filling hole with the rubber plug and seal with the adhesive tape.
THIS SEAL MUST BE AIRTIGHT, IF NOT THE CARTRIDGE WILL CONTINUE TO LEAK.
8. Clean the syringe with water and dry for future use or with different colour ink.
9. Leave cartridge to stand overnight on a non-absorbent surface to prevent further leakage.
10. Install cartridge in printer and run a priming cycle as per printer instructions.
IMPORTANT – For best results, cartridge should be refilled whilst some ink remains.
Empty cartridges should be refilled immediately.
This work is best done over the sink.
1. Put the cartridge on some paper towels in an area where you can tolerate a spill.
2. Drill a hole into the dimple just below the "B".
3. Fill the syringe with 20 ml. of black ink.
4. Very slowly & carefully inject ink into any hole.
5. When finished, put a small piece of tape over the drilled hole.
6. Replace the cartridge and run 1 - 3 cleaning cycles as per printer instructions.
For best results,
leave cartridge in printer for 8 hours after refilling so the ink can saturate the entire sponge.
Note: Each time the cartridge is removed from the printer an "empty cartridge" message
appears and a blinking amber light will come on, on the printer. Holding the paper feed button
down for 3-5 sec. will allow you to override the counter. IMPORTANT – For best results, cartridge
should be refilled whilst some ink remains.
Empty cartridges should be refilled immediately.
This work is best done over the sink.
1. Put the cartridge on some paper towels in an area where you can tolerate a spill.
2. Peal off the top label.
3. You will notice three small holes (too small for a syringe needle to get into). Drill each hole
larger with a thumb drill.
4. Fill the syringe with 6 ml. of colour ink ( Cyan, Yellow & Magenta).
5. Very SLOWLY & CAREFULLY inject ink into each chamber until the sponge full
6. When finished, replace the top label or cover with tape.
7. Replace the cartridge and run 1 - 3 cleaning cycles as per printer instructions.
For best results,
leave cartridge in printer for 8 hours after refilling so the ink can saturate the entire sponge.
Note: Each time the cartridge is removed from the printer an "empty cartridge" message
appears and a blinking amber light will flash on the printer. Holding the paper feed button down
for 3-5 sec. will allow you to override the counter. IMPORTANT – For best results, cartridge
should be refilled whilst some ink remains.
Empty cartridges should be refilled immediately.
This work is best done over the sink.
1. Cover the outlet hole with the orange
outlet seal that came with the cartridge (a rubber band will hold this in place) to prevent ink
loss during refilling or with your finger over the outlet
port while wearing latex gloves.
2. Push the Sealing Ball into the cartridge using a ball point pen or something similar. If you
can't see the ball just above the "push" then peel back the top label on the reservoir
side of the cartridge to expose the Sealing Ball.
3. Attach the needle to the syringe and fill with the correct colour ink.
4. Slowly inject approximately 13 ml. of Black Ink or 6 ml of Colour Ink slowly into the filling
hole until the chamber is almost full. Unused ink may be returned to the bottle.
5. Seal the filling hole with either a plug or some strong adhesive tape.
6. Remove the orange outlet seal (or your finger) from the outlet hole.
7. Replace the cartridge and run 1 - 3 cleaning cycles as per printer instructions.
8. If you have trouble getting your cartridge to print and the sponge side of the cartridge looks
dry then drill a hole into the top of the sponge side of the cartridge. Stick the syringe needle
into the sponge and fill with ink. You do not need to seal this hole.
If you are filling cartridges to use later, leave the orange outlet seal rubber banded onto the
cartridge. This will prevent your sponge from drying out.
Note: On the CLI-8 and PGI-5 series cartridges, there is an electronic counter embedded in a
small computer chip/board. This counter starts at a high number and decreases for every character
printed.
Eventually, the counter reaches zero. At this point, an error message is generated by the printer.
If you click "OK" to the error message, the printer will continue to print.
If you have trouble getting your printer to print because it thinks the cartridges are empty. Look
on your printer for an orange blinking light. This is your reset button, usually the paper feed
button also. Hold this button in for 5 seconds until the light goes out. Note: this will not reset
the ink level back to full it will simply disable the counter.
Step 1: Carefully remove the chip from an OEM ink cartridge (picture 1), then stick the double
sided tape (provided) onto the back (picture 2).
Place the chip onto the replacement compatible ink cartridge (picture 3). Make sure there is no
surplus tape which could affect the contact between the chip and printer carriage. Install cartridge
in printer according to manufacturer’s instructions.

Step 2: A dialog box will pop up, if the dialog box is the same as shown (picture 5), continue
printing until the dialog box shown in picture 6 appears. Press the ‘Yes’ button
to continue. If you are faced with the re-appearance of the dialog in picture 5, repeat Step
2 until you see the dialog box in picture 7. Now proceed to Step 3.
Step 3: Click ‘Yes’ in the dialog box below (picture 7).
Step 4: Click ‘Yes’ in
the dialog box below (picture 8).
Step 5: Click ‘OK’ in the dialog box below (picture 9)
Step 6: IMPORTANT - Do not click ‘Back’ or ‘Cancel Printing’ (picture 10).
Press and hold the paper feed button for 5 seconds (picture 11) and then release the button. Another
dialog box will appear (picture 12), you are now finished and can continue printing.
If the dialog box in picture 10 reappears, repeat this step.

* For Canon MP Series, press and hold the ‘Stop’ button
until the alarm light stops blinking.
